ELIZABETH GLASER PEDIACTRIC AIDS FOUndation
Since their founding 25 years ago, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation has become the global leader in the fight to end AIDS in children. In honor of Elizabeth Glaser who contracted HIV in a blood transfusion in 1981, and unknowingly passed the virus on to her children Ariel and Jake, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation seeks to end pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs.
The Phi Omega chapter started their relationship with the organization EmpowerHer in the Spring of 2019. Their mission is to support, connect, and empower young girls who have experienced the loss of their mother at a young age. Currently, EmpowerHer is the only organization working specifically to address the needs of girls that have experienced this sort of loss. EmpowerHer does this by creating a series of year round programming and events for girls, including a Mother’s Day Retreat, Beach Bash, cooking classes, and more. They also provide one on one mentoring with strong female role models to help girls through this time of grief.
